Early Intervention

Early Intervention

Dr Andy Ong prides himself on providing early prevention and rectifying misaligned smiles, so they don’t become a problem in the future...

Early intervention is about making sure your child has the best smile and facial aesthetics for the future.

Early visits...

Development can have an impact on different issues within the oral region. The Australian Society of Orthodontists recommends a child first be seen by an orthodontist as early as age 8; earlier if a problem is discovered by a parent or family dentist. We generally recommend that you see an Orthodontist as soon as possible.

Does my child need treatment immediately?

Treatment is not necessarily required straight away. Since no two patients are alike, there is no specific age that is best to begin treatment, some patients are best treated after all the permanent (adult) teeth have erupted, however getting a professional opinion from an Orthodontist will ensure the teeth are monitored during their developing stages.

Nip costly crowding in the bud...

When treatment is carried out at the right age, orthodontic treatment can help the eruption of permanent (adult) teeth, which can often prevent more serious problems from developing and you are less likely to incur high costs associated with complex orthodontic treatment.

Perfect timing...

Finding the optimal time for treatment requires recurring observation to assess when the teeth and jaws are ready for growth and transformation. Early treatment may prevent the need for extraction of permanent teeth, surgery and other serious corrections later in life. Early treatment may also achieve results that are not possible once the face and jaws have stopped growing.
